About Me

My name is Victoria. I am 22 living in Reading and decided to start blogging in February 2013.

I don't imagine many people will read this blog but for those that are thank you.

I decided to start this blog as a sort of online journal. I'm hoping that I'll be able to look back over my posts and remember the fun times I've had with family and friends. I'm also using it to keep people back home up to date with my day to day life.

As the name suggests my family and a lot of my school friends live in 'The North' near Oldham. In 2008 I moved to Southampton for university and for the past 18 months I've lived in Reading. Despite my original inhibitions, I now love living in the South and have reluctantly accepted that there are as many positives to the South as there are to the North.

I'm a PhD student at the University of Reading researching (or attempting to!) new potential treatments for motor neurone disease, a degenerative and terminal disease. Before I started my PhD I had never heard of MND but since then I have met so many people who have had their lives affected by the disease. Meeting these people and hearing their stories motivates me through the difficulties that naturally arise through doing a PhD, and trust me there are many!

Outside of my PhD I enjoy exercising, running, cooking, eating great food (a lot), and hanging out with the people who mean the most to me.

I'd say that pretty much sums me up!
